Pays for the practice, not the drone

Cost-share pays for the practice.

Who can apply

Landowners and operators in the district; rate set by each district.

What it covers

Practices installed to NRCS standards; the Voluntary Stewardship Program adds county cost-share for critical-area practices (Columbia County 50% to 75%). · not confirmed

Drones: ask the agency before you count on it

Cost-share pays for the practice. Palouse CD's precision-agriculture page names drone sprayers and says it can provide knowledge, funding and field assistance for precision-ag services and equipment, with no terms published; ask the district.

What that means for you: the payment is for the practice or the service, not for owning the aircraft. A drone can be the delivery method only if the agency's planner accepts it.

Question to send info@wwccd.net (copy and edit)

"I farm [acres, crop] in [county]. Would a [make, model] agricultural drone used for [spot spraying / variable-rate fertilizer / cover-crop seeding] be considered eligible under Conservation-district cost-share and the Voluntary Stewardship Program, and what would you need from me to decide?"
